Objectives for this lesson:

1.

Given written word problems and numerical questions with sums and minuends less than 10 000, students will correctly solve addition and subtraction problems with at least 80% accuracy.

2.

During individual and group problem-solving activities, students will show confidence and persistence when solving addition and subtraction problems with sums and minuends less than 10 000 by attempting all assigned problems and participating actively in discussions.

3.

Using place-value charts or written algorithms, students will demonstrate the correct procedures for adding and subtracting numbers with sums and minuends less than 10 000 by completing all steps correctly in 4 out of 5 problems.
